Heartland Sulphur completed a new molten sulfur storage tank on 30 June 2021 at its Industrial Heartland terminal near Edmonton, more than doubling molten storage capacity. The terminal, a Lion Sulphur-Inter-Chem joint venture, provides remelt and forming logistics so Alberta producers can reach Vancouver dry-bulk exports and North American molten rail markets. The company page is at https://www.heartlandsulphur.com/what-is-it.

More than doubling molten storage is a buffer, not a new Claus plant. Blocked and crushed sulfur can be remelted into the tank, then formed into granules or loaded as molten rail. About 4,500 tonnes a day of forming, in later public materials, is the granulation line that tank feeds. Argus would later report remelt capacity up 40 percent to 700 tonnes a day in June 2025, from 500, with 1,500 planned by end-2026. 30 June 2021 is the storage step those remelt expansions sit on.

Alberta recovered sulfur still leaves mainly through the Vancouver stem. A tank near Edmonton is the remelt-depth node. South Cheecham in 2023 would be the upgrader-belt forming node. 2021 has Heartland. Sultran's rail programme to Port Moody and North Vancouver is the tidewater half. The tank is why remelt can wait for a train without overflowing the pad in the same week.

Tampa about $192 in mid-June is the Florida contract this tank's molten rail can deliver into. Vancouver's 2.29 million tonne down year is the Pacific book forming can deliver into. Two doors, one tank. USGS 73 percent Canadian share of US elemental imports for 2017-20 is the rail door in a table.

Argus's mid-2021 note on several new Western Canada forming projects is the wider build-out. Heartland's tank is the named 30 June completion. Take-or-pay and producer programmes keep the node busy when FOB is only approaching early-2014 levels. They do not force remelt of 2010s Syncrude-area block. Price does that. Mid-2021 price was starting to.

BC Insight's sour-gas decline and oil-sands offset is why Edmonton remelt depth matters. Oil-sands sulfur that cannot form near Fort McMurray still hauls molten or crushed to Heartland. The tank is that haul's buffer. Licensed weekly grids are not restated.

2025's 11.66 million tonne Alberta inventory low, AER via Argus, is when this tank's remelt line would be paid to run hard at $238 FOB. 30 June 2021 is the installed base. Forming saturation, not remaining provincial stock, is the speed limit on how fast Canadian inventory can answer a later Gulf hole.

Figures follow Heartland. The 30 June 2021 tank is the storage chapter of Alberta's remelt-and-form corridor.
