Vancouver August sulfur exports 320,000 t, up 20 percent from July

China took about 180,000 t. Australia, the US about 50,000 t, and New Zealand were among destinations. De-blocking and Cheecham forming supported the lift.

Port data cited by Argus put August 2024 Vancouver sulfur exports at 320,000 tonnes, up 20 percent from July, with China about 180,000 tonnes, Australia, the United States about 50,000 tonnes, and New Zealand among destinations. De-blocking and restored Cheecham forming supported the lift. The item is at https://www.argusmedia.com/en/news-and-insights/latest-market-news/2611033-vancouver-sulphur-exports-rise-20pc-in-aug.

January-August 2024 exports were still 15 percent above the prior year at 2.27 million tonnes, despite July 2023's 13-day strike creating a base-effect. Full-year VFPA 3.35 million tonnes is this August run-rate completed. 320,000 times 12 is 3.84 million, above the annual. August was a strong month, not the mean.

China at 180,000 tonnes is 56 percent of the month. Mysteel's 1.66 million tonne Canadian share of 2024 Chinese imports is the year. August was China-heavy inside a year that still had UAE first at 1.70 million tonnes into China. Vancouver's China line is the Pacific slice of that customs table.

The United States at about 50,000 tonnes of Pacific solid is the Tampa-linked idea later made explicit in 2025 August coverage. Molten rail of about 900,000 tonnes for 2024 is the other US book. Two doors, one August.

Alberta recovered sulfur still leaves mainly through this stem. South Cheecham priller finally operational after January-May issues is the forming print. More de-blocking even as some oil-sands plants reduced production is the inventory print. Forming, not Claus, set the 20 percent month-on-month lift.

Tampa $76 in early July, USGS, is still a soft Florida contract. Vancouver FOB averaging $78 January-July is still a soft Pacific solid. A 320,000 tonne August is volume in a cheap year, paid by term offtake and restored forming, not by $238 FOB.

New Zealand as a named destination is the Oceania fertilizer bid that VFPA tables sometimes fold into listed trading economies. Australia is the larger Oceania line.
