Longzhong Information's September 20 China sulfur assessment, relayed through open commodity wires, described notable domestic weakness even as headline commentary still referenced tight international balances.

Zhenjiang port mainstream granular sulfur was quoted at 7,200 yuan per metric tonne, down 500 yuan from the prior week in the Gate.com and telegraph summaries.

Shandong liquid sulfur fell to 7,600 to 7,625 yuan per tonne, down 205 to 345 yuan week on week, while Northwest solid sulfur was 7,250 to 8,000 yuan, down 250 to 820 yuan.

Domestic auction interest slowed materially in the same account, a demand-side read that aligns with inverted MAP and DAP margins SMM flagged in mid-September reviews.

On the import side, the wire cited Indonesia CFR near 960 dollars per metric tonne as a recent transaction level after softer CIF Indonesia averages near 1,005 dollars in SMM's September 18 weekly table.

Market talk of sub-1,000 dollar CFR bids in China and India that suppliers did not accept keeps import parity floors in focus without confirming a licensed weekly assessment print.

India trades near CFR 1,050 dollars per tonne were also cited, matching the lower end of ranges BC Insight and SunSirs have quoted for Indian granular imports this month.

Shengyishe's September 20 spot table left the national granular benchmark at 7,669 yuan per tonne unchanged on the day, above the Zhenjiang port quote Longzhong published hours earlier.

Shandong Lihuayi cut solid and liquid sulfur offers by 400 yuan to 7,600 yuan on September 20 in a separate Shengyishe plant quote, overlapping Longzhong's Shandong liquid band.

Middle East FOB sulphur averaged 855 dollars per tonne flat in SMM's week-ending September 18 review while Hormuz backlogs kept seaborne Gulf tonnes off normalized schedules in BC Insight's 18 September count.

For Alberta forming plants, sub-7,700 yuan domestic granular does not by itself collapse Pacific netbacks when BC Insight firmed Vancouver FOB to 1,100 to 1,200 dollars on a confirmed Southern Africa sale the same week.

Canadian sulfur through Vancouver totalled 3,507,428 metric tonnes in 2025 in the port authority overview, with the United States listed at 302,000 tonnes, up 191 percent year on year.

US phosphate stress persists in parallel: Mosaic near 50 percent rates in Florida and Louisiana with Tampa delivered sulfur above 1,100 dollars per tonne since May in open fertilizer reporting.

Desk read: September 20 Longzhong is a port-and-auction weakness print inside a still-elevated Pacific FOB band. Watch whether Zhenjiang at 7,200 yuan pulls more Shandong liquid offers toward 7,600 yuan before the next Shengyishe benchmark session.
