China port sulfur stocks at 938,000 t on September 21 wire

PriceSeek via Shengyishe lists Fangcheng 380,000 t, Zhenjiang 220,000 t, and Zhanjiang 200,000 t in a coastal total the platform calls high.

Shengyishe published a September 22 PriceSeek reminder carrying September 21 monitored port sulfur inventories at 938,000 metric tonnes across six Chinese load points.

The breakdown showed Fangcheng at 380,000 tonnes, Zhenjiang at 220,000 tonnes, Zhanjiang at 200,000 tonnes, Dafeng at 86,000 tonnes, Beihai at 28,000 tonnes, and Nanjing at 10,000 tonnes in the open table.

PriceSeek scored the release mildly bearish for domestic spot, arguing the coastal total sits at a relatively high level that keeps supply-side pressure on yuan prices even when short-term technical screens turn more constructive.

The inventory wire arrived the same morning Shengyishe lifted the national sulfur benchmark to 7,709 yuan per tonne, up 40 yuan from September 21's flat 7,669 yuan print.

Fertilizer Daily's September 20 phosphate review still showed East China liquid sulphur near 7,325 yuan and Zhenjiang granular at 7,150 yuan, coastal offers that sit below the national line while stocks remain heavy at the port gate.

SMM's August customs release on September 20 put China sulfur imports at 272,323 metric tonnes, down 65 percent year on year, a demand read that can coexist with high port stocks when domestic production and coastal arrivals stay ample.

BC Insight's September 19 Price Trends kept North American FOB sulphur steady at 1,100 to 1,200 dollars per tonne, the Pacific offer band Alberta recovered sulfur still references even as Chinese port inventories build.

Middle East supply relief remains partial in the same BC Insight account, with roughly 380,000 tonnes on eight vessels still inside the Gulf backlog after a ceasefire window cleared 22 vessels carrying about 1.07 million tonnes.

Alberta Energy Regulator ST3 data run 27 August 2026 put province-wide closing inventory at 11,109,610.9 tonnes for July 2026, the verified_public block stock anchor on the North American side of the same seaborne tightness story.

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority reported 3,507,428 metric tonnes of sulfur exports in 2025, up 5 percent year on year, showing the Pacific stem can still clear Alberta tonnes when rail and forming capacity align.

Shengyishe's September 22 trend screen kept a strong rebound tag with the five-day spread turning positive at 28.33 yuan per tonne, a technical read that port inventories can undercut if coastal offers stay soft.

Longzhong's September 20 Zhenjiang port granular quote at 7,200 yuan underscored regional dispersion under a national line that ticked higher on September 22 without yet confirming a broader domestic floor.

Desk read: treat 938,000 tonnes at monitored Chinese ports as a supply cushion against the modest 7,709 yuan benchmark uptick until weekly import customs or a draw in Fangcheng and Zhenjiang stocks confirm tighter coastal balances.
