The cargo is described as the group's first direct mainstream Middle East import since the US-Israel-Iran conflict began, and its largest single Middle East sulphur purchase by volume and value since the company was founded in 2019. The delivery signals limited but real Hormuz-adjacent supply reaching Chinese phosphate consumers even as broader Gulf seaborne flows remain constrained.
Guizhou Phosphating also operates internal sulphuric acid capacity from phosphogypsum recycling at its Qiannan base.
