China coastal sulfur stocks flat near 1.123 Mt on back-to-back port wires

Oct 14 and Oct 15 Shengyishe tallies differ by only 300 tonnes after the mid-month build from early-October levels.

Shengyishe's rawmex feed carried coastal port inventory wires dated 2026-10-14 and 2026-10-15 with monitored Chinese elemental sulfur stocks at 1,123,200 and 1,123,500 metric tonnes respectively.

The 300 tonne difference between the two wires is immaterial against the 1,019,700 tonne October 8 tally that kicked off the mid-month build.

The October 15 breakdown listed Fangcheng at 420,000 tonnes, Zhanjiang at 360,000 tonnes, Zhenjiang at 208,000 tonnes, Dafeng at 83,000 tonnes, Beihai at 18,000 tonnes, and Nanjing at 10,000 tonnes.

Fangcheng's 420,000 tonne line held steady across the Oct 14 and Oct 15 wires, while Zhanjiang's 360,000 tonne bucket remained the second-largest coastal pile.

Zhenjiang at 208,000 tonnes and Dafeng at 83,000 tonnes rounded out the southern and Yangtze clusters that dominated the aggregate build earlier in October.

The plateau landed on the same feed that printed domestic spot at 6,652.33 yuan per tonne on Oct 18, a combination that can keep import buyers patient even when world supply commentary stays tight.

SMM and other open customs tables through August still showed elemental sulfur imports down sharply year on year, shrinking seaborne refill that normally leans on Middle East and Canadian stems.

Alberta August 2026 closing inventory at 11.04 million tonnes in AER ST3 keeps Canadian block stocks measured while Chinese coastal cover stabilizes above 1.12 million tonnes.

Vancouver's 2025 sulfur export total at 3.51 million tonnes, up 5 percent year on year, shows Pacific clearance capacity when Chinese buyers return to the stem.

ChemPortal's mid-October freight table still sizes Vancouver-to-China parcels in the high-thirties to low-forties dollars per tonne band, a freight line desks net against domestic spot.

SunSirs sulfuric acid at 1,557.50 yuan per tonne for four sessions suggests downstream chains are not accelerating the sulfur slide while stocks sit at this level.

Desk read: treat the Oct 14-15 port wires as a stabilization band; pair 1.123 million tonnes coastal cover with the 6,652 yuan rawmex close before assuming import urgency on the Vancouver stem.
