Desk guide: using Sulfur Wire

Sulfur Wire is built for someone who watches North American recovered sulfur and needs public fundamentals without a licensed weekly assessment feed.

Start with volumes, not prices. Open Exports and read the annual Vancouver table first (VFPA Statistics Overview). That is the loadport system of record for solid sulfur through Port of Vancouver. The monthly table below it shows only reported and bridge months. Equal-month calendar fills exist in the full file for reconciliation, but they are withheld from the default UI and from /api/v1/exports?monthly=1 unless you pass all=1.

Check Alberta inventory next. The series ends at the last attributed provincial observation. July 2025 near 11.66 Mt appears as industry_estimate when the figure comes from AER data via open trade press. Later months are not held flat as if they were current stock. For anything after the cut, pull AER ST3 / Sulphur Balance yourself.

Use hubs for form and unit traps. Vancouver and US Gulf dry bulk FOB are USD per metric tonne solid. Tampa molten is usually USD per long ton delivered into Florida phosphate. Convert before you compare. SR-BASIS-VG is Vancouver mid minus Gulf mid on the solid FOB pair. The Units helper page does LT to MT and basis math.

Treat price charts as anchor maps. Dashboard and Charts plot public anchors with gaps where densified platform_estimate months are withheld. The full densified series remains in the API for completeness. Open reprints that mention Argus or Platts are tagged industry_estimate. Sulfur Wire is not a price reporting agency and does not redistribute licensed weekly assessments.

Netbacks are origin-matched. Vancouver routes use Vancouver FOB; Gulf routes use Gulf FOB; Middle East routes use ME FOB. Transit days are lane estimates, not fixture prints.

Facilities and berths explain the physical chain. Canada producers and formers sit beside US Gulf recovery geography, Tampa phosphate demand, and Vancouver berth capability specs (not live AIS).

Outlook briefs are irregular public summaries. Latest is the newest brief dated on or before today. The Series catalog and License pages are the diligence path for reuse or partnership conversations.
